Grotte de su Marmuri in Ogliastra, Sardinia

A fascinating trace of the past

You can explore some of the most evocative natural works of art such as the caves, one called “Is Zuddas” in Sadali and the other “De Su Marmuri” in the territory by Ulassai.

This last cave is considered among the most impressive in Europe thanks to its kilometer in length and an average height of 35 meters. After descending the 200 steps of the initial collapse, the visit takes place along a comfortable flat path that passes an infinite series of overflow trays that often form ponds along the right wall. The impressiveness of some stalagmite groups and the flows full of festoons that hang from the shelves of the walls are astonishing.

Also in Ulassai you can visit the museum of contemporary art where works by the artist Maria Lai are exhibited. Visit an artisan workshop of carpets and tapestries with traditional processes.
